Depression Counseling
Depression counseling and treatment is our primary specialization at Sub Rosa Therapy.
At Sub Rosa Therapy, we focus on helping people who struggle with depression using a combination of proven therapies. Our approach includes Spravato (esketamine) treatment, mental health counseling, and psychedelic integration therapy to support deep emotional healing. We use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to help clients understand and work through the different parts of themselves that may be causing emotional pain. We specialize in working with parents, college students, elders, and people coping with grief and loss. By combining medical treatments with supportive, psychedelic-informed therapy, we create a space where clients can explore meaning, emotions, relationships, and find long-term relief.
Recent research underscores the efficacy of Spravato (esketamine) in treating treatment-resistant depression (TRD). A notable study demonstrated that esketamine nasal spray, combined with an oral antidepressant, achieved remission in 52.5% of TRD patients at week 8, compared to 31.0% with quetiapine plus an oral antidepressant. Furthermore, the FDA recently approved Spravato as a standalone therapy for adults with major depressive disorder, expanding its accessibility. These findings position Spravato as a valuable option for individuals unresponsive to traditional antidepressants.
You do not need to participate in Spravato treatment to receive therapy or counseling for depression at Sub Rosa Therapy
—our mental health counseling and psychedelic integration therapy are available to anyone seeking support and healing.
Why Internal Family Systems?
Deep exploration of identity and relationships through Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and psychedelic integration can be beneficial for those struggling with depression. These approaches allow clients to uncover and understand the internal dynamics that contribute to their emotional distress, such as unresolved trauma, self-criticism, or patterns of disconnection and dissociation. By fostering a compassionate dialogue between different parts of the self, clients can integrate past experiences, release burdens, and develop a more coherent and empowered sense of identity. Additionally, psychedelic integration provides a structured way to process insights gained, helping clients make meaningful connections between their experiences and their emotional well-being. Through this inner work, clients often find greater clarity, emotional resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose in their relationships and lives.
If you are seeking the most comprehensive approach to healing, combining Spravato with psychedelic integration therapy can provide profound benefits. Spravato helps to rapidly lift the weight of depression, creating space for deeper therapeutic exploration, while psychedelic integration ensures that insights from treatment are processed and meaningfully applied to daily life. This combination supports lasting transformation, helping clients move beyond symptom relief toward true emotional freedom and self-discovery. At Sub Rosa Therapy, we are committed to guiding you through this journey with care, expertise, and respect for your healing process.
